BlackBerry Leap with 5-inch HD display, 25 hours battery backup and LTE support launched at MWC 2015

As expected, BlackBerry today unveiled a new smartphone called the Leap at MWC 2015. This is the long-rumored Rio, which has been doing the rounds of the Internet for quite a while. The BlackBerry Leap is priced at $275 (Rs 17,015 approximately), and will go on sale sometime next month in select countries.

The BlackBerry Leap is an all-touch handset with dimensions of 144×72.8×9.5 mm, and weighs 170 grams. It flaunts a 5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display with a pixel density of 294ppi. It is powered by a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Plus quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Also included is 16GB internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.

On the photography front, the smartphone features an 8-megapixel rear camera with flash, 1080p video recording capabilities, and a 2-megapixel selfie camera with 720p video recording capabilities.

The smartphone also features a 2,800mAh non-removable battery, which the company claims is good enough for up to 25 hours of usage

FM Radio, and connectivity options like LTE support, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. On the software front, the smartphone runs on BlackBerry 10.3.1 OS, and comes bundled with BlackBerry Blend, Assistant, and dual-app stores — BlackBerry World and Amazon App Store.
